Michael is a tireless advocate for veterans in California and the United States. He serves on numerous committees, teams and boards – and is an indispensable contributor to AMVETS Department of California, in addition to being a key player in the creation of several veteran memorials and legislation that has helped countless veterans.

I believe to be a good citizen you need to give back to your community and your country for the common good.

In 2015, Michael founded and originated the AMVETS Post “Patriot Flag Award,” presented to businesses and individuals who fly the U.S. flag with honor in front of their business or home. AMVETS National Headquarters has since instituted the program Emerson established as a national program.

Mr. Emerson was recognized for the achievements and efforts above, as well as many more impactful programs and projects in his more than 30 years of service as a community volunteer.
